Parkinson's Fighter: Tainá

Collecting, storing, and sharing samples is a critical component of the Luxembourg Parkinson’s study at NCER-PD. As a project manager at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), I ensure seamless coordination between the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg, where the samples are safely kept, the clinical team, and the researchers who use these samples to gain valuable insights into Parkinson’s disease.

The samples provided to us by our participants are a precious and limited resource. I carefully review each request for samples from our cohort to ensure their most productive use. Collaborating with partners in Luxembourg and abroad helps us maximise the data collected from these samples. At NCER-PD, we strive to make the data and samples we collect universally available to foster such collaboration while ensuring that the samples are safely kept.

I am also the project manager of the Healthy Ageing study, aiming to find risk factors for all age-related neurodegenerative diseases. Since we are still recruiting participants over 50 who are not diagnosed with Parkinson’s or dementia, I can only encourage anyone eligible to participate on www.heba.lu or to share the study with their friends and family. That way, anyone can join the fight against these diseases and make a difference in the lives of those affected.
