As a data scientist at the Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine of the University of Luxembourg, I am involved in multiple projects related to Parkinson’s research, including the Luxembourg Parkinson Study. My role in research revolves around managing and analysing the vast amounts of data collected during the various studies on Parkinson’s disease.
I collaborate with researchers and clinicians who collect data from various sources, such as biosamples and patient evaluations. This data is collected over several years, making it challenging to manage and analyse alongside new data collected as technologies evolve. Linking all the data together to gain valuable insights into the disease requires a consistent and standardised approach while maintaining patient privacy and trust. It is also crucial to ensure that our data management approach is flexible enough to integrate any future technological advancements.
Good data management starts at the beginning of any project and leads to better research, contributing to improvements in patient care and disease prevention. As a data scientist, I’m proud to be part of this important work and contribute to improving the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease.
