Each year, we celebrate in the month of April the birthday of James Parkinson, who first described the disease in 1817 as characteristics of Parkinson’s.
Patient groups around the world organise the World Parkinson’s Day around the 11th of April, to draw attention to the disease and inform on symptoms and treatment options.
The NCER-PD Team was also very busy during the month of April. Thanks to the Flying Team Van, the team participated in seven different events in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. “We would like to thank our partners for their invitations and their warm welcome”, says Prof. Dr. Rejko Krüger, head of the Luxembourg Parkinson Study. Together with his colleagues, he presented the NCER-PD research through presentations and the information booths. “Our cooperation with various patient organisations in Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and France allowed us to make the Luxembourg Parkinson Study known also beyond the borders of Luxembourg. We are happy that 120 people have chosen to participate and be actively involved in the study. Without our partners, this would not have been possible.”
In the coming weeks, the NCER-PD team will contact the new participants to arrange appointments for the examinations. The patients that are not able to come in person to the Parkinson’s Research Clinic, have the opportunity to be visited by our Flying Team at the partners institutions in their area.
