Parkinson's Fighter: Rudi

I have been fascinated by the complexity of Parkinson’s disease for many years. Currently, doctors can only treat the symptoms but cannot stop the disease. This is far from ideal. We already made a lot of progress in research, but there is still so much we need to understand. Why do some people get ill and others don’t? Is it because of our genetic make-up or our life style, and how do the two influence each other? Why do the symptoms vary so much between patients? Is Parkinson’s actually one disease or are there different subtypes? We have many questions to tackle but with joint forces we will find answers, even if it might take a while. Because only if we understand why patients become ill, we can go after the cause and find ways to cure and prevent the disease. And this is what we work for!
