Parkinson's Fighter: Sinthuja

In my work, I aim to identify changes in the DNA – called mutations – that are associated with the different symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. I am now analysing the DNA of participants in the Luxemburg Parkinson’s Study. Prior to joining the LCSB, I had already performed genetic analyses and developed computational tools. I have always enjoyed working in a clinical context as this way my research can have a direct impact. I am very happy to see that many participants in the study are really interested in research. Within the Luxembourg Parkinson’s Study, we are also investigating if the Luxembourgish population possesses any specific genetic variation associated with the disease. Once we understand the genetic causes and potential risk factors of Parkinson’s, this may provide opportunities for an earlier diagnosis and efficient treatment. Bioinformatics fighting Parkinson’s!
