Weight loss is very common in people with Parkinson's disease. The tremor may play a (small) role. However, there are many more factors that play a part in weight loss, including reduced appetite, swallowing or chewing problems, food preparation and cutting difficulties, and excessive movements (dyskinesia) due to medication. Finally, the entire metabolism of people with parkinsonism also seems to change, which makes them easier to lose weight.
